TAKUYA OSHIMA
Statement
Framework:
I focus on two themes: human ideology and social issues. My artwork challenges and explores the middle of two extremes whose contradictions cannot be easily explained, logically or in words. My aim is to send various kinds messages to the society, through my artistic intervention.
Context:
My love of drawing comes from my childhood as I tried many ways to make my daydreams come to life. It still has a special place inside me that connects me to this world. After experiencing different mediums, I settled with drawing in black and white. It is important that I use a strict method to create my work so that I do not lie to myself. I also work with etched prints to express things I cannot with drawing. A contingency of chemical reactions on materials is necessary in the creation of my prints. A mixture of control and contingency adds another layer to my works.
